Crockpot Sausage and Tortellini

This has been a favorite recipe for a couple of years now. We’ve adjusted it several times, adding a few things and taking away, but this base recipe is absolutely delicious.

Crockpot Sausage and Tortellini

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 tsp basil
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 15 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup bone broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2-4 cups spinach chopped
  • 9 oz package of cheese tortellini

Instructions

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage until browned. Drain any excess fat and transfer the sausage to the crockpot.
  • Add the garlic, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chicken broth, basil, oregano, and salt. Stir everything together.
  • Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours or on high for 2-3 hours.
  • About 30 minutes before serving, stir in the heavy cream. Then add the cheese tortellini and spinach. Cover and cook about another 20-30 minutes until the tortellini is cooked.
